Verizon's acquisition of AOL Worth 4,4 Billion USD







Detik-Inet - US telecommunications company, Verizon agreed to buy the media company America Online (AOL) with a value of USD 4.4 billion. With this purchase, Verizon hopes to expand the number of ads they can sell and increase the production of the video.
"Of course, the content business is very important. But for us, the main interest is more on the acquisition of advertising technology platform," said John Stratton, Verizon President of Operations, as quoted from the pages of the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday (13/05/2015).
Verizon AOL purchase value is based on the calculation of USD 50 for one share of AOL, which at the close of market on May 11 last at a rate of USD 42.59 per share.
Through this purchase, Verizon certainly have access to the technology developed by AOL for advertising sales and online video service. In addition, Verizon will be the owner of some of the leading media, such as Huffington Post, Techcrunch, Engadget, Makers and AOL.com.
In this agreement also participated decided that AOL CEO Tim Armstrong will continue to lead the company if the purchase is approved by the US financial authorities.
